Ben Stokes will not be playing for England in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opener against New Zealand.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India will include 10 countries competing against one another, hence the highest prize in cricket is now up for grabs. At the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, the World Cup began. The current champions, England, have started defending their title against last year's runners-up, New Zealand. Jos Buttler will lead the team's batting order as Tom Latham, acting captain of New Zealand, has chosen to bowl first after winning the toss. It's an exciting time for cricket fans everywhere!

Ben Stokes, who will be competing in the tournament only as a pure batsman, will not be available for England's opening match. Stokes has resurfaced from retirement to compete for his nation's side in the World Cup competition. However, due to an injury he suffered just before the match, Stokes will be unable to participate in the opening game, and England will start Harry Brook in his place. Harry Brook will play in his first World Cup.

Jos Buttler provides update on Ben Stokes

Ben is not playing, England's skipper Joe Buttler said during the coin toss. A groyne injury has occurred to him. Absent are Atkinson, Topple, Willy, and Stokes. Stokes did not have either the bat or the ball during the England practise matches against Bangladesh and India at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, which were both postponed due to rain. Stokes will have a few days off before playing in England's upcoming match against Bangladesh at Dharamshala.

Ben Stokes, an all-rounder, led the way for England against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup final. He made a key impact to the English team's title defence effort. Buttler stated, "Preparations are on track; it's a good series against New Zealand on home soil," when discussing the World Cup run. We are quite proud of having accomplished what we set out to do four years ago. England won the Championship for the first time after defeating New Zealand.

Tom Latham, the captain of New Zealand, won the toss in Ahmedabad and chose to bowl first. Lockie Ferguson's absence due to injury and Ken Williamson's absence owing to an ACL injury have presented some difficulties for New Zealand. Williamson spent some time in the warm-up, and he will soon be a part of the Blackcaps' World Cup 2023 campaign. Southy is not included in the starting XI either.
